Model description
The classic THEIN “Deutsches” Flugelhorn in Bb with 4 valves was further expanded at the lower end by the 4th valve and the quart valve/quint crook with trigger and Pitchfinder respectively. 4-5 octaves can be played purely. Thanks to the hand guard with pearls and the sound sticks as well as the moderate wall thickness, the mighty sound is still transparent and easy to control.
The sound of the flugelhorn with a rotary valve machine resembles that of an instrument with piston valves but it is even more subdued. Since it is also equipped with keys it is also well suitable for Mahler’s post horn solo, for example. In addition, many of the “Bandas” in Verdi’s operas are scored for flugelhorn which can be very well be realised with this instrument.
