Holger Becker

Holger Becker has been a trumpeter in the newly established Marinemusikkorps Wilhelmshaven (DE) since 2019. He was born in Wildeshausen, studied classical trumpet at the University of the Arts in Bremen with Otto Sauter. From 1998 he studied at the Trumpet Academy in Bremen. Among others with Thomas Stevens, Jim Thompson, Bo Nilsson, Kenji Tamiya and Rudi Köpp.

Scholarships have taken him to Japan (Toho Gakuen Orchestra Academy / Toyama) and the USA (Festival of Performing Arts / Idyllwild, California) as a trumpeter. Even as a teenager he was interested in jazz. This led to Holger becoming a founding member of the Swingin ‘Fireballs in 1999. He then quickly became a lead trumpeter in various jazz bands. He not only recorded the CDs of the Swingin ‘Fireballs, he was also a musician in numerous productions by German broadcasters and television productions as well as for James Last.

The combination of classical trumpet and jazz brought him into the field of musicals. After previously working as a trumpeter at various opera houses and musical theaters, he was from 2007 to 2019 from Stage-Entertainment at the “Operettenhaus Hamburg” and “Theater Neue Flora” (“Sister Act”, “Ich war noch niemald in New York”,”Rocky”,”Aladdin”) as a trumpeter and conductor.

Many international tours have taken him with the Austrian ensemble “Sound-Inn-Brass” across Europe, Asia and America. He was on tour with several fantastic soloists such as Hans Gansch, Allen Vizzutti, Steven Mead and David Childs.
