Jan Donner

Jan Donner is Wechselposaunist (Tenor- and Basstrombone) at the Deutsche Oper Berlin.

Growing up in the Bergisches Land between Cologne and Düsseldorf, Jan Donner first learned the piano before he discovered the instruments of the trombone family and studied them in Berlin with Andreas Klein, in Hanover with Jonas Bylund and in Rostock with Jamie Williams.

Jan has been at the Deutsche Oper Berlin since 2017 and is also a guest in numerous renowned German and international orchestras, including Gewandhausorchester Leipzig, Gürzenich Orchester Cologne, Staatskapelle Berlin, Konzerthausorchester Berlin and Mahler Chamber Orchestra.

Since 2018 he has been a lecturer at the HMT Rostock, since 2019 he has been teaching at the Bach-Gymnasium, a Berlin special school for highly talented young musicians.

Jan Donner is a member of the brass ensemble 10forBrass.As a soloist he played with the Polish Chamber Philharmonic, the Bergische Symphoniker and the Stabsmusikkorps der Bundeswehr  Berlin. In addition to the trombone, sacret music is Jan’s great passion. At the seminar of the Church of Berlin Brandenburg Schlesische Oberlausitz , he completed his C training as an organist until 2017.

Jan completed a mediation training at the Fernuniversität Hagen by 2020, and a year later he completed a certified training as a mental coach at the ILS Hamburg.
