Thomas Höfs is orchestral percussionist with the Stuttgart State Orchestra and teaches orchestral percussion at the Karlsruhe University of Music (DE).
At the age of 11 he received lessons from B. Zien (Hamburg State Opera) and H. Haedler (NDR Symphony Orchestra) at the Lübeck University of Music. He played in the Federal Youth Orchestra, the Youth Orchestra of the European Community, and successfully took part in the “Jugend musiziert” competition several times.
He completed his studies in the percussion class at the Freiburg University of Music (DE) under the direction of Prof. B. Wulff with distinction.
Since 1993 he has been the first percussionist in the orchestra of the Stuttgart State Opera. He is also a regular guest in all of Germany’s major symphony orchestras.
His great interest in percussion instruments led him to an extensive collaboration with well-known instrument makers, who successfully implemented his suggestions in new developments.
Among other things, the “Buddy & THEIN” triangles were created in cooperation with THEIN Brass.
